are you sure, it's just "fond de soi", it's not "au fond de soi"?!
i think it's " at the bottom of you" ( I'm not sure),it's something you have in your heart.

'fond de soi' in itself means nothing at all,
now if you have read for example: , this means: he felt deeply that she was right.

Literally it means 'love of self', e.g 'elle est fond de soi' could mean 'she is selfish', 'she is vain' depend on the context. Hope it helps!
