How do you break up with someone that you have lived with for 4 years and not hurt their feelings?

That would be tough but you are going to have to sit that person down and have a serious heart to heart with them. Tell them why the relationship can't go on any longer I think in the long run they will appreciate your candor and honesty and the break up may be much easier on both of you. I'm not saying there won't be any tears ar anger because that usually can't be avoided. I'm just saying in the long run you may be able to be friends when some time has passed.

That's NOT going to happen!

Feelings WILL be hurt. She was a part of you life for a long time. The new "honey" that you are leaving her for should examine the realities of what is going on here.

Unfortunately there is no way to do this. They will be hurt anyway. Just don't leave it too long as they will know that your not happy and that makes it worse. Just be honest. thats the only thing you really can do. Sorry

heh. and i thought i heard some wacky question.
the answer is you can't. someone is bound to get hurt when you have been in a relationship for that long unless the other person is also on yahoo asking the same question.

You have to tell her the truth. Tell her how you feel and why you are doing this. She will be hurt, but at least it came from the heart. And she will know that it did.

just say that you had fun times together but you should see different people. It was fun while it lasted but it's not working anymore. And whatever you do don't say "It's not you, it's me." That is so old and dumd now a days. Good luck!

I am very sorry that you have to do that, but if it is a must then tell the person as smoothly as possible.
