Select Start => Settings => Control Panel => Add Remove Programs

Now select yahoo messenger and click add/remove and proceed with the uninstallation process.

If still it is not working, then you will have someother things installed like yahoo web services, etc. Just select them from Add remove programs and uninstall them also. That would do.

In Windows XP, click start button, run, and into the run box paste the following (including the " marks)
"D:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger"
change the D to whatever drive letter your program files are on (usually C if you haven't changed it). That should open up the folder where Yahoo Messenger is installed.
Find a file called UNWISE.EXE and double click it. That's the uninstall file for messenger and that should remove it for you.

if you have yahoo services from like at&t you'll have to find the link for "yahoo apllications" in your add remove list and that'll open a box with all the installed components. If its not there and you have installed not only the messenger but the toolbar too then you'll have to uninstall both. If it STILL won't work you'll need to re-install and then uninstall
