I have been reheating potatoes all my life (52 years) and have never had any problems. My Mother and Grandmother and Great Grandmothers have also always done this. Don't worry just enjoy your spuds.

Hmm? never heard that and all my life I have lived on leftovers the next day, potatoes included..
The only type of potato I would NOT reheat would be if it had something like egg in it or chicken in it.. and it sat out for more than 2 hours.. otherwise.. mashed potatoes, french fries, baked, whatever.. I reheat.. never effected me yet..

Wow, I have never heard that. Eggs or dairy products are questionable if they've been left out and AREN'T reheated.
The truth is, most of the foods you get in restaurants are being reheated. They don't cook every item to order! And they certainly don't throw away the leftovers that haven't been served! If you learn proper storage procedures most leftovers can be kept for safely for days, and few "need" to be reheated for health reasons.
I frequently keep cooked potatoes of all sorts in my fridge for up to two weeks without concern.

Sounds like an old wives tail. Home fried potatoes usually start out cold. You can buy already cooked cold potatoes in the store that are cold. Allot of times if you check out the information you will find a discrepancy. Like maby 3 generations ago some one cooked some potatoes and got sick , but it had nothing to do with the potatoes. My younger brother ate 24 stuffed mushrooms once and got sick. Now he won't eat mushrooms because he says they are poison. NOT the fact that he made a pig out of himself and ate to much. Now my niece and nephew think all mushrooms are poison. In a few years someone will ask why we can't eat mushrooms.

And here is what you can do with your l/o mashed potatoes mmmmgood.
Potato Pancakes
2 cups mashed potatoes
1 large egg, beaten lightly
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
11/2 tablespoons grated onion
2 tablespoons chives
Salt and pepper
Vegetable oil, for frying
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
In a bowl combine well the potatoes and the egg, stir in the flour thoroughly, and stir in the onion, chives, and salt and pepper, to taste.
In a large heavy skillet, heat 1/8-inch of the oil over moderately high heat until it is hot but not smoking. Fry heaping tablespoons of the potato mixture, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon, for 1 minute on each side, or until they are golden brown. Transfer the pancakes as they are cooked to paper towels to drain and if desired, keep them warm on a rack set on a baking sheet in a preheated 250 degree F oven. Serve the pancakes as an accompaniment to meat, poultry, or eggs.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings.

What you should have heard to that question is that it is dangerous to reheat, or eat, baked potatoes that were wrapped/cooked in aluminum foil and left out at room temperature for 48 hours. In short, it is the aluminum foil that is the dangerous part. Here is the link to that story. http://pffc-online.com/ar/10-paper-foil-potatoes-dangerous
