put ash blonde highlights in it. BUT make sure u do it at a salon
i died my hair brown today and came out black, so leave it to the proffesionals not ur older sister. Also, be prepared to pay alot to maintain it.
If I were u i wouldnt die it, perhaps a new style and cut?

i think the most beautiful thing in the world is a fair skinned lady with dark hair. The contrast is amazing. Personally I would avoid dying my hair if was colored like you. Also we have nothing to really go on but the coloring scheme. I think a dye job also has to take into account the way your face looks I could say go copper but if you're not carrying the correct undertones, or have the correct features for it then the color most likely won't look good one you. Don't take advice from here go to the beauty store look around at some colors decide then if you want to go darker or lighter if your hair is already dark it would be nice to mix it up and try a lighter shade. Once you decide your which way you want to go. Make a consultation at your nearest salon specializing in coloring and ask the hairstylist in his/her opinion what shade would be nicest for your face. Also DO NOT dye your hair by yourself. you're hair is going to be damaged whether or not you do but it's more likely to be mistake free, and slightly healthier if you have a professional dye it and style it really well. Also if you get it done professional they and you absolutely detest it, they have the necessary products to remove the color.

melissa,
we don't know what country ur in. So a name of color will vary from country to country unless ur in the USA?
Fair skin girls look great in Light Auburn (mild red color) but I tend to agree with the others that getting professional highlights might be a better route for U.
I don't know why we raise a culture of girls who have Dark Brown Hair and they want to be Blonde. Or Dark Brown eyes want blue or green eyes...
I bet u don't need any change of hair color. Have u considered a new style instead? Before u dye consult with a professional stylist for some advice and tips. There are some 6 shampoo color... it is temporary. Gives u an idea of the color before permanently dying it.
I wouldn't do drastic... highlights are probably the way to go.

stick with your natural colour, trust me.
i have [almost] the same colouring as you and i have experimented with different colours from blublack to red. and now i am trying desperately to just get my nice deep brown back.
if you really want to dye your hair just for a change, try semi-permanent instead. it will wash out very soon but will always leave a slight stain. if you do decide to dye your hair permanent black, please note that without bleaching and completely destroying your hair, it will never ever fade out until it's cut out or grows out.
good luck.

Sounds nice as it is but if you're determined to change it try some highlights. (have a professional do it since it's the first time) You'll be able to figure out if you really want to change the color after you've lived with highlights for a while.

Since you are fair skinned, I would to with a shade of red. Maype a nice auburn. The red family is pretty popular right now. Maybe something like this: http://www.just-hairstyles.com/curly/c70.htm

Don't dye it ... shave it! Then no worries about which color is the best! If you're cute, you'll still be cute. If you're ugly, you'll still be ugly, but you won't have any hair for a while. When it grows back, you'll be back to your same old ugly self!
