How many humans have been tortured and murdered in the name of God. Its so funny how I see on t.v. the ads on NBC during the Christmas season "Peace On Earth" what a farce!Not to mention in Ramadan how many suicide bombing reach all time highs. Jews well thats a totally different story.

As soon as you invent a religion that states that they're the only true religion and everyone else is a heretic, and a bad person who wil be tortured for all eternity, then you're going to have intolerance, hatred, and war. Especially when there's more than one religion that has this arrogant belief. So, of course the monotheistic religions (such as christianity and Islam) are not based on love and of course they have such a bad record for not being able to play well with others.

Any monolithic religion is like a powerful nation. god has nothing to do with it. It's all about power.
Christianity was not meant to be one big religion as we see "religion" today (the original meaning of religion is simply "a way of life" - not a powerful organization.
By the way, AJF, there were never 300,000 natives in North America. Where do you get your figures from? I agree there was genocide, but I think your figures are wrong.

Right on. Christmas kills and it is so bad for the environment. More people have died in the name of land and money though. Largest genocide ever--300 million natives dead in 300 years in the US alone. That doesn't count the natives they killed in Mexico and Canada.
If you mean Monotheistic, the Jews had a pretty peaceful history up until the creation of Israel. they just got beat up and pushed around a lot--but they took it and let other people fight their wars.

Seldom have wars and murders been in the name of religion. They have been for power and wealth, and only under the guise of religion.
The best example we have today is in Iraq-the Shias and the Sunnis. This is a political issue-each wants to control the other. It is not actually for religious reasons. It is for power.
