i dont believe that any one is purely evil, what are the main reasons for their hate? what in the koran leads them to believe this is gods will? i thought Islam meant peace

i think that there are as many different reasons as there are different terrorists. but i believe a large part of islamic fundamental thinking is that if you are complicit with the systems that oppress them (as they see it) you are not innocent. therefore, anyone who is not actively fighting on their side is not innocent.
i'm just guessing though. the other idea that's maybe worth thinking about is that they think the end result they hope for (whatever that "victory" might be) justifies any means necessary to achieving it.
there are some pretty wildly divergent views on what the koran thinks with regard to fighting under the banner of islam - look up "holy war" or something similar on www.wikipedia.org for some reading.
as for the reasons for hate, some say they see a truth that we don't; others say they have been tricked by cleverer men with their own interests into believing in a lie. i'm trying to be objective so apologies if that compromises my answer.

Certain people feel as if they are the oppressed ones and hence target the innocent for vengence coz they can't reach the real targets.
Secondly certain doctrines and certain (usually political and religious) mafias brainwash and manipulate these people and are exploited in a manner which even they themselves do not really understand. They do all the crap for somebody else's advatage and interest.
No offence but trust me religion has got a big part to play in all the havoc we are in. People who believe otherwise or think that interpretation is wrong need to recheck because 'kill' in whatever way you interpret it, still means kill and results in terrorism - even if it comes in a HOLY BOOK.

Islam does mean peace . Most people have beeen misled they lack the basic knowledge about their own scriptures and its very easy for anyone to take advantage of this situation.
It is written in the holy quran that if " you take the life of 1 person its equivalent to killin the entire humanity and if you save 1 person's life its equivalent to savin the entire humanity"
The problem with people today is that they misinterpret the scriptures.For example jihad is the word for struggle or to strive that is to strive to improve oneself or to improve the community.
There has been a lot of wrong media attention also which has resulted in a lot of prob.

There are few frustrated elements, who due to injustice, led to violence which has nothing to do with Islam. If few Muslims are doing wrong, it does not mean there is fault with Islam. If Christians are doing wrong that does not mean there is some thing wrong with Christianity. Hitler killed 60 million people. he was christian. no body blames christianity for Hitler's crime. So one cannot blame Islam for bad acts of few Muslims. Islam is no doubt religion of peace.

They are guided by false interpretations of some of the Qur'anic verses ... and these false interpretations have been set by some Hitler-like creatures who think they will reach Jannah if they kill and slaughter.
