The German measles vaccine is a live irradiated virus, injected into you to stimulate an immune response. The first thing the body does when it detects a virus or bacteria is to raise the body temperature. While the body cells are quite capable of functioning in a higher temperature, virus and bacteria are extremely temperature sensitive and can't. They quit reproducing and that gives the body immune system a chance to track them down. Although you are only injected with a small amount, and it can't reproduce, your body doesn't know that- so it responds the way it was designed to. Things go on red alert, the temperature goes up and the immune system goes into overdrive. It normally only lasts a day, as that is all your body will need to take care of what was injected. In the meantime, it's good news, lousy as you might feel, because you just confirmed you have a healthy and working immune system.

I Think this is a Paramyxovirus, the Vaccine, Attenuated, but Not Totally Inactive, Temperature is the Result of a Immune Response to the Virus.

It makes your body think its being attacked by the disease, your body starts to produce more white blood cells to fight the vaccine your body's temp rises to help kill the what your body thinks is an infection. This is how your body builds immunity to the disease.
