I love my lab, but only you can answer this question...we don't know whats' best for you! Do some web reasearch on both breeds, try to visit breeders of both and ask questions/see puppies. Wiegh factors and BE HONEST ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DO to care for a pet. Good luck!

I got a black lab. its freaking HUGE. He's really good. He doesnt bark at people..or jump on people or try to attack people. He doesnt make a very good guard dog. BUt, he does make a great pet. He's very very kind. Quiet..doesnt bark a whole lot..unless he sees cats. He loves the water..and when im out washing the car...he comes n drinks from the water hose. I have had no problems with him whatsoever. But he does take huge craps in the yard. N it stinks so bad. I mean HUGE craps. Besides that, he's perfect.

I have known about both. A friend owned a ridgeback and i owned a lab. They are both great dogs. Remember they require similar but different things. Labs are very family dogs. Think about what your lifestyle is like and what type of dog would suit you. Remember large dogs eat heaps and need plenty of excercise.

i have a Labrador and hes absolutely fantastic great temper, easy to maintain i walk him once a day and for the rest of the day he amuses himself, however they do need a large space to run around in, if you don't have this then make sure that you go to the park or a large space. if you want more info on these breeds this site is really good for finding out information about specific breeds.

You need to do more research before you get anything.
Labrador - bred to help fisherman bring in nets, and to retrieve game.
Rhodesian Ridgeback - bred to hunt African lions.
Now which do you think will be easier to handle?

Labs make great pets. You need to have patience when they are young but patience and persistence and they make a smart loyal loving pet.
