In my job, I frequently have to email doctors... but I can't for the life of me find out what 'MD' means! I'll look like a fool if I ask a colleague. Can anybody enlighten me?

MD - Medical Doctor - meaning this doctor is a physician. If there are other letters after the doctor's entitlement, they will be referring to his "speciality" - like a Dermatologist - may have following his name additional letters, then that indicates that he has is "fellowship" in the special field he/she has chosen. Just like a BA, MBA - In the library should be a "little book" called 'Abbreviations" & "Shortcuts" - something like that anyway, and this little book will tell you all, from the President - down and including things like: FYI - means - for your information... Good Luck and jump ahead of your colleaques and go get that book.
