Plan your time. If your professor assigns you an essay over whatever topic due in two days, depending on how long it takes you to write an essay, schedule *at least* an hour per night to write it. Even if you have to cut out other activities to get all your work done, not doing those essays and other assignments will basically flunk you. The most important tip for studying well is managing your time.

I used to be bogged down and stressed by essays in school, but ironically, I'm now working as a freelance writer and I enjoy my work immensely even when I have to do quite a bit of research. I've found that writing isn't the hardest part, just the most time-consuming one. The trick is to organise your research and map out what you're going to say.
1. Invest some time in thinking about the theme of the essay and make a list of questions to ask on the topic. Think of it as needing to interview someone on the topic - what would you ask them? This is really helpful and (believe it or not) saves time when it comes down to doing the research and formulating your points.
2. Write down all the headers of the sections of your essay before you actually write the sections. This will help you stay focussed on what you're saying every step of the way.
3. When pressed for time, don't bother with pretty words. State everything succinctly and economically. Just make your point. Word count should be sacrificed for content quality if you REALLY can't make the deadline. But this should be a last resort.
4. More importantly, give yourself a deadline for each essay and do one at a time. This may sound common-sensical, but staying focussed on one thing at a time will help your work flow better. Sit down and say, "OK, it's all or nothing."
Hope this helped.

Stop the partying, socializing, and concentrate on studies. College is about discipline ... those who can't prioritize their times flunk out. Learn to type ... fast.
