Make your own shortcrust pastry then use Robinson's fruit mince. I really like the orange and cointreau one. It's amazing. Brush them with egg and when they're cooked sprinke sugar over them. Yum.

My Gran...
Or possibly Marks and Spencers.

How about a local bakery...

What you could do, if you're not a huge fan of cooking, is to get the M&S ones and make some nice brandy butter to go with them.

Brandy butter (serves about 6 depending on greed!)

Butter (softened)
Icing sugar (sifted)
Hip-flask size bottle of napoleon or courvoisier brandy.

Start off with:
One tablespoon of butter
One tablespoon of icing sugar

Blend until creamy with no sugary lumps

Add two tablespoons of brandy and stir until gloopy
(don't worry if it separates, it'll blend back together again)

Then (don't laugh, this is the recipe I use at Xmas so I know it works!) add a little more sugar, then more brandy, then more sugar, and keep going until it's about the same consistency as a thick milkshake. If it starts to separate at this stage, ease off the brandy, pop a little more sugar in and stir slowly.

Then refrigerate and enjoy!

The stuff you get in the shops is flavourless after you've tasted this one, but be warned, you'll probably use about half a small bottle and may need to pop it in a jug rather than a bowl to serve!

;)

Goes nicely on Xmas pud too...

Hope it goes well whichever pies you choose!

Mr. Kipling Mince Pies are very good, and Tesco's own brand are very tasty (the ones in the red box)

HARRODS FOOD HALL, THEY TASTE LIKE HOME MADE. IF YOU HAVE TIME TO MAKE YOUR OWN, BUY SOME MINCEMEAT ADD SOME BRANDY TO IT, WHEN MAKING YOUR PASTRY MAKE IT WITH BUTTER. AND ADD 1 OZ OF ICING SUGAR TO THE MIX,SWEETENS IT BUT YOU DONT GET THE GRAINY BITS OF SUGAR LIKE IF YOU PUT NORMAL SUGAR IN.ANOTHER NICE ONE I MAKE ,IS FILL COOKED VOLAUVANT CASES WITH THE MINCEMEAT HEAT THREW FOR 5 OR 10 MINS. THEN POUR ICING OVER THE TOP OF EACH CASE, VERY QUICK TO MAKE.
