Do your homework first!

After all this is your first time buying a car!

Know how much you want and have to spend before going in to buy the car. This is especially true is you have to get a loan from the bank.

You should know the approximate value of the used car you're considering. Contact the bank and find out the value of the car's make, model and year.

Good luck!

Do not buy a used BMW for a first car. Buy a late model American car thats still under factory warranty. Yes, Toyotas and Hondas are good cars but you cannot get one for a reasonable price and still be under factory warranty.
Chevy cavaliers and Dodge Neons and such are OK. Chevy Cobalts and Malibus are a good buy.

If it's your first car, I wouldn't get a BMW. If you have to get it repaired, luxury car repairs are twice as much as cars that aren't luxury. When you get your car be sure to look up maintanence costs and insurance costs.

dont trust anyone who is extremely willing to give you a SEEMINGLY really good car for less than its worth. there is prolly something wrong with it, making it worth less than you pay for it. i hope that made sence =D
