In court you have to "tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth." That means that lying can also be withholding information, or also mixing truth with lies.
But the more important thing is that if this is a friend it seems that he has an issue that is causing him some problems. Maybe just be a better friend and listen -- he'll tell you more if you stop worrying about whether you're being lied to.

It means one of 2 things, either youre not communicating your problem correctly, ie asking too open a quesion, ie
'why did you lie about that' rather than
'last tuesday you said you were going to the gym, however i dropped in there to see if you needed a lift home, and you werent there, where did you end up?'
or hes trying to cover up a lie by answering a question with another question......??
Good luck

He is saying, That he doesn't say anything to you
Example
He went out last night to a strip club with his friends.
Now,
You ask him, what did you do last night.
He responds something like, I was just hang out with my friends.
See he is not telling you anything, but he is not lying
You can either buy that. or learn to ask the right questions.
Is not telling the same as lying to you?

The question is............why do you think he has lied to you?. In my opinion, it's not nice to accuse anyone of lying unless you have absolute definate proof they have. So, if he hasn't told you anything, have you been listening to gossip from others?. He could be qenuine, but thats for you to decide.

It means that he is lying. If you even question whether or not he is telling the truth, more than likely he's lying.

People think that by not saying anything they're not lying. The fact that the lie is in keeping silence seems to escape them.

That means that he probably lied by omission. He chose to exclude vital information when he told you things. This way, technically, he isn't lying.

If you hide something that you have the right to know, then he lied to you and that is that. This dude sounds like he is a player and it was his way to jump the situation and make him not look so bad. Don’t take his just, his going to hurt you.so bad.

that means he didnt say anything to you so it might or might not be a lie. Kind of like dont ask dont tell. Like he didnt lie only because he didnt tell you anything at all.

Well if he hasn't told you anything, it's not really lying is it? it's more to do with how you have read his silence.
