It's true that confession has gone up to $10.00 per person for clear forgiveness of sins, so yes, the priests are ecstatic. will accept credit card but cash preferred.

Read the book from ISKCON's Nectar of Instruction.
"A sinful activity cannot be counteracted by a pious activity......"
But there is an answer.
If you do 10 good things and 5 bad things. The good does not counter the bad and leave you with the net of 5 good credits. But there is a way to counter the five bad things. - prayascitha. Read more from the book. It is meant for applying not reading.

U were misinformed and ur informer must have been misinformed too. When u need to confess ur sins it's not necesary for u to confess to a priest. Priest are human beings too prone to weaknesses. If one wants to confess one's sins communication directly to God is the best way....talk to God, confess ur sins to God in private and have faith that He has forgiven ur sins cos God's grace is sufficient.

The bible says that there is one mediator between God and man, the Lord Jesus Christ. You don't need to confess your sins to a man. You should go directly to your mediator, the one who paid for those sins and He will forgive you Himself because as He said, the Father gave him authority to forgive sins.

Sorry you are wrong, a Roman Catholic goes into his "phone booth"
A Christian, born again, goes staright to God by Jesus' blood:
John I 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Not true, though I am not a Roman Catholic.
The priest only intercedes for your sins and pray to God that he may forgive you, not the other way around.
Peace...

You can't really tell for sure. Some churches might work like that: especially megachurches. But I doubt that in a normal or smaller church that they would do that.
