God made a promise to Abraham and Sarah . But Abraham jumped the gun and had got hagar involved.

From Hagar , we have Ishmael and from Sarah we have Isaac

When God made his promise, there was no Hagar , just Abraham and Sarah . So should not Isacc be the inheritor of God's promise to Abraham.

In Genisis 3:5 , it foretells the promise of a saviour. Through the line of Isaac, (rightful inheritor of God's promise) , we come to Jesus Christ.

G-d also promised Hagar that Ishmael would be a great nation.

Genesis 21
17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. 18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation."

As for the promise between Abraham and Sarah yes it was passed and reaffirmed to Isaac and then to Jacob.

Isaac IS the inheritor of God's promise to Abraham, and God said He would also make a great nation from Ishmael since he also was Abraham's offspring.

Hagar, mother of Ishmael found an Egyptian wife for her son,and he in time fathered 12 sons, chieftains and family heads of the promised 'great nation' of Ishmaelites.Ishmael also had a least one daughter,Mahalath, who married Esau.
(Gen.17:20;21:21;25:13-16;28:9) and Gen.25:17 says "And these are the years of Ishmael's life,a hundred and thirty seven years. Then he expired and died and was gathered to his people."
No descendent of Ishmael appeared as a benefactor of mankind in the first century CE.But a descendent of Abraham through Isaac did appear at that time. This individual was from the tribe of Judah and the family of David and was born in Bethlehem. He was Christ Jesus.

Wrong...Sarai told Abraham to "take" Hagar. Isaac had his reward and Ismael had his too. We know where each descendant comes from, don't we? Yes, we do
