I am interested in looking at new vegetables/vegetable varieties thathaven't actually come over to the British market. I have just recently come across a Mooli vegetable. I have also surfed the net for potential vegetable databases, but I cannot find one.
Is there anyone out there who could let me know of any exciting novel vegetables from their country...

Thanks

In Puerto Rico we have a variety of root vegetables that are really great, Yuca (casaba), Yaotia, Name, Batata, among others. Yuca, Yaotia and Name are usually boiled. Yuca is great parboiled then cut into pieces like french fries and fried. Batata can be boiled but I prefer it oven roasted like a sweet potato. Calabaza is Caribbean pumpkin and is used in all sorts of dishes ranging from beans to soups and stews, it has a great flavor, slightly sweet. Happy Hunting, hope this helped.
