I forget the name of the game but you give each guest post-its and a pen and they walk up to a person and write down the name of the star they think the person reminds them of. Place the post-it on their back and then the person has to ask questions until they guess who it is. A very good ice breaker.

I have two suggestions:
1) Yankee gift swap - everyone brings a reasonably priced present (set price ahead and make sure everyone knows.) Make sure gifts are wrapped! Also, decide if you want "real" gifts or gag gifts. Gag gifts can be more entertaining and sometimes easier on a smaller budget.
You make paper slips numbered 1 to however many guests there are. Everyone pulls a slip to determine the order to proceed. Whomever pulled number one chooses a gift from the pile and opens it. That's it for them now, but it gets much better for number one!
Now the fun starts. Number two chooses a gift from the pile. Once they have unwrapped it, they choose whether to keep it, or trade it with number one. Number one has no say in the decision.
Now number 3 does the same, only they get to choose from all three of the now opened gifts. Then just keep going until everyone has opened a gift and had a chance to swap.
Finally, number one now gets to choose to keep what they ended up with, or trade with anyone in the group!
It's a lot of fun watching the "drama" that follows the best gifts changing hands and the game allows other conversations to continue instead of requiring everyone to stop and focus on just the game.
2) Secret Club Ritual - This one goes way back for me. Because it only works if only two or three in the group are in on it I haven't been able to play in years.
You take a broom or dowel or anything like that. At least two must know the secret to get started. Explain that this is a test for people smart enough to join in your club. One of you stands the broom on the floor and balances it with your finger or grasp it in your hand. Walk in a circle around the stick reciting the following: "I walk around this stick am I a member." The other starter tells them that yes, they can join.
Here's the catch, before saying the sentence, clear your throat. Try to be casual so that it is noticeable but not obvious.
Now have each guest attempt to repeat it to see if they can join. The key isn't the catch phrase or how they walk around the broom, it is the clearing of the throat. If noone is getting it after a few tries, repeat the example so that they have a chance to catch what they missed.
Like I said, this only works once within a certain group, but it is great fun watching people trying to work out what they are doing wrong.
Good luck with your party, whatever you end up doing!

This is what I do every year with my friends :
Each of us buy a present (maximum 15 or 20 euros, we decide the max price together).
During the party, we all go in a small room of the apartment (usually the kitchen or the bathroom), then each of us, one at a time, go in the other rooms of the place to hide his present.
Then, when all the presents are hidden, we all rush in the apartment to look for a present.
In that case, every one got a present, it's not to expensive, and we have a lot of fun playing hide and seek with presents !

Some good activites are to get out there and dance. Mingle with the other guests and see if there is anything that you can do to help get the party started. If you see someone who is bored, then entertaint hem.
