I was going to say "a bucket and a toilet" but now I feel really sorry for you. The ony good thing about bugs/food poisoning, in my experience, is that they don't last very long. Get someone to go out and get something like Immodium for you; that should stop the diarrhoea. Make sure you drink plenty of water as you don't want to get dehydrated.

Treatment For Sickness And Diarrhoea

if it is food poisoning then an Italian remedy is to drink an alcoholic herbal infusion called Fernet Branca. It's difficult to find in off licences but you often find it in Italian restaurants. If you can ever get a bottle then buy it, and take a shot when you have food poisoning - it really does work a treat and the sickness is usually gone within an hour or two.
However, you've probabbly hot got this so the golden rule is EAT NOTHING - drink plenty. Fast for twenty four hours and let whatever upset your system pass through and out the other side. Then eat a dry cracker or toast - no dairy or meat - and see if that stays down.
However, you may have a form of gastric flu, particularly if your limbs are aching, in which case a mild attack will make you feel ghastly for about 24 hours and a bad attack will lay you out for three or four days.
If the sickness continues past two days then see a doctor to get checked out.
Hope you feel better soon ...

The best thing, as horrible as it is, is to let it pass through you. The most likely thing is a viral gastroenteritis, in which case the best thing is to flush it out of your system. This means drink lots of water to replace the lost fluids. This will make you feel better as well as you will be less dehydrated. You can get electrolyte powders to reconstitute with water to replace what you have lost from vomitting and diarrhoea; these help but aren't strictly necessary unless the diarrhoea persists for longer. I would advise against medicine like imodium which stop diarrhoea because they will just prolong the time the bug is in your system- best to let it all out. (Imodium may be a short term solution if you desperately need the diarrhoea to stop, eg if you need to go out and do something really important.)

Apart from drinking lots of water, just rest and take it easy. If you feel hungry, eat small amounts of non-fatty food (eg toast), as fatty food can make the diarrhoea worse.

It sounds as if it is already working its way through and you should feel a lot better by later this evening/tomorrow.

You may still be infectious up to 48h after the symptoms end, so take extra care to wash your hands, esp if you have small children.

(If it persists longer than 72h, go and see your doc)

Hope you feel better soon!

Sickness & Diarrhoea

get some Imodium (diarrhoea relief tablets). this should help to at least minimise the amount of trips to the loo u are having to make ! you will probably be missing essential salts and minerals because nothing u have eaten has been absorbed properly into your body, which is why u are probably feeling so horrible. get some re-hydration sachets from the chemists, you will feel loads better after taking them, i speak from experience. last year my little boy brought the stomach bug from hell home from nursery school, i practically lived in the bathroom for 3 days..... if u do feel that u can manage something to eat, stick to something very plain and simple, like dry toast or boiled rice, and only eat a very small amount to begin with. also, try to stay warm and get as much sleep as u can. hope u feel better soon

Ok sounds like food poisoning, just a guess, but I had similar symptoms and felt like ****. What I did was rest and plenty of fluids, but also try and eat something kind of stodgy like toast, some potato dish, pasta or rice dish that should help to bind you up a little, maybe a banana aswell. Hope you feel better soon x If it goes on for much longer go see the doctor.

drink boiled water or diet lemonade. Stay away from those chemist anto diarrhoea mixtures because diarrhoea is best out not kept in. Bed rest and drink pepper mint tea very soothing on the stomacke.

I used to work in a nursing home some time ago and when the patients got this illness we used to give them flat coke, this puts the sugar back in your body that you loose, and helps to settle the stomache. I still use this method if i or any of my children have the same problem. The bottles of coke go flatter quicker than the cans and you can get them to go flat quick with a small amount of sugar added. Watch out though because it froths up lol hope your feeling better soon x
