Politics makes some things that are true, to be FALSE doctrine. therefore they have to be hidden from men in order to propigate false history.
Some people have been into the vatican archives but by permission only.

Ever heard of the city on 7 hills ? That should be a clue, if not research it.
Ever heard of the Diaglott ? -THAT is the UNADULTERATED Bible, in the ORIGINAL GREEK, translated into English, showing ALL of the Vatican's 'corrections', in order to change truth to lies. They took the bible early on, taking it away from the common man's language- Greek- and changing it to Latin- The Vatican's language. So no one could understand it but them and it made them very powerful, didn't it ?

Because they wouldn't be secret if we could all browse through it.
Also, many of the items were stolen from other cultures, the Vatican would have to admit to theft; and really they really should return the items to the different cultures they took them from.

Because the Catholic Church doesn't want you to. The archives are privately owned by the church so they can decide who gets to view their archives.

They are private property and the Vatican where they are stored is a separate nation with it's own borders, laws and police.
