hedy- I've read all the verses and believe my understanding to be clear. It isn't like it's some obscure parable, fairly black and white. And aren't Jesus' actions supposed to be above human? Perfect and beyond reproach?

If you say anthing negative its always taken out of context. Oh, Jesus was referring to Maine Lobsters. You are blinded that's why you don't understand the verses.

In the Jewish culture, exaggeration was often used to get a point across. This is what Jesus is doing here, in reference to Judgment Day. Until then, you are given mercy and time. But one day God's mercy will be for the believers.

Um, no. He is talking about non-believers being slayed before Him- in reference to the White Throne Judgement discussed in Revelation ? Are you familiar with it ?
We need to love everyone and NOT judge them. BUT judging their ACTIONS, to create a better picture of what WE need to do, is the key.

I believe some of his numb-skull followers may have said something like that and, like many of the teaching of the Church, are nothing like what Christ would have approved of.
I'm not even religious, but that just doesn't sound right.
