the valve cover has the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. EGR is for exhaust gases, how would exhaust gas get to the top of the valve cover?

If its the 4.0l engine, I-6, I am pretty sure thats an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve on the cover, with a hose leading back to the air intake.
