My girlfriend wants time apart because she thinks I am more like a friend now not her boyfriend?

Last Christmas my gf was accused of steeling a baby jesus religious figure from my home. She obbiously did not do it. The baby jesus was later found in the figurine box it was taken out of. My family thinks that my gf took it and that I put it back. My Mother did it becasue she doesn't like my gf and thought it would be a nice way to break us up. My mother was the first one to know it was missing, and the one to accuse my gf of taking it. Ever since then our relationship has gone down hill. I have moved out of my house into an apartment and don't talk to my mom anymore. I asked my mother if my gf was not invited to our thanksgiving then i was not going to come over for Thanksgiving dinner so thats exactly what happend. Now my gf keeps saying that our relationship needs to grow and that It hasn't. I ask her what I am doing wrong and she says that I feel more like a friend to her. She tells me she is not seeing someone else and I believe her. Shes always crying now I need some advice

She's probably deeply hurt by your mother's actions and doesn't see a lot of hope with the future in-laws. Your mother should drop her pride and apologize to this poor girl.

Well, Im reading what you havent said. Why would your mother accuse your g/f of stealing a baby jesus? Has she ever accused her or anyone else youve ever known for stealing something . Why would your mother want to break you and your g/f up? Young man it sounds like you have a difficult time with this g/f and you need someone to blame and why not your Mother. Its easier to blame someone that does love and care about you than it is to get someone that is saying its over but only saying it in a childish behavior way , " Your like a friend to me our relationship needs to grow!"
So grow the hell up and make a mends with your mother and get rid of this girlfriend and move on.

Your mother seems to have caused some very deep damage and it looks like you can't put it right, I'm sorry to say. You have done everything you can to support your gf, including cutting your mother off.
All you can do is give your gf the time she is asking for and make it clear that you are still there for her. She will either come back....or not.
This is a very sad situation, and one of the worst I've heard concerning interfering, jealous mothers, because that's why your mother did what she did.

the romatic feeling is gone.
as a female, when she treats you like a friend, it means there is no more romance between both of you. maybe she can't bear to give up the relationship therefore the wanting of ''time apart'' and that means there is hope.
first thing first.
do you still love her?
no, then forget it.
yes, then try treating her like how you treat her before she becomes your girlfriend. do some sincere stuff that she may think is romantic. and tell her that no matter what your mother does, you'll protect her from all the hurt and stuff.(you must keep your promise though)

she's totally hurt over your mom accusing her of stealing. that's just a terrible thing to go through. even though you seemed to stick up for her...your mom still doesn't like her. your gf needs some time to herself before she can be with you. think about it in her perspective.
