They are no longer made. I would imagine this would cause price to increase. Supply/demand. Besides, there are worthy shotguns out there other than the SPAS-12. Ithaca 37 (I believe that is made by Browning), the Remington 870, Benelli, Mossberg 500... I have an old police-style Ithaca 37 Riot Shotgun in 12-gauge.

2 ways,
1. depending on your situation and room available to you, run away as the blast radiates into a circle and the further you are the less chance of being hit by buckshot..
2. Attack the closest guy first, swiftly and low, preferably as some people are so dumb as to wave the gun and shoot the concrete while you're in motion . Using that guy as a shield make due the rest.
