As an ex tv engineer, maybe i see things from a diffrent angle, inside!.lol

The buld quality of JVC is superior to Hitachi and generally we had much less come back.
Both manufacturers buy in components but the Hitachi ones were usually of slightly lower quality particulally switches but i think they are decent equipment overall.

Goodmans is not the manufacturer they used to be, a british company making top quality speakers.
There are now an importer buying in equipment from various companies and rebadging it to say goodmans, the quality can range from fair to complete junk.

I remember a small hifi which had a button on the front, behind it was a lever attatched to string (yes, string!) which pulled on switch to release the cd cover.

i agree with the majority above, JVC first but for a me a long way in front, Hitachi if it's a whole lot cheaper and only Goodmans if it's extremely cheap or they're giving it away.

My experience working in Dixons seems to tie in with all of the above - there isn't much to choose between Hitachi & JVC for 1st place, but would put Goodmans 3rd - not the highest quality, but still good value for money. Sony and Panasonic (in that order, IMHO) are the two best.

I'd go for a Hitachi, although JVC is also good. I wouldn't consider the Goodmans.

Hitachi. Mine has a great picture, but JVC are good too. Go down to Currys or Comet and actually compare them in store.

Don't bother with Goodmans as you get what you pay for

Hitachi. when it comes to electronics, the Japanese are usually the best at efficiency and reliability, and usually the most advanced too. Hitachi televisions are good value and work really well

Goodman's are OK if that is all you can afford. JVC would have to be the market leader of the three. if you are thinking towards hd days Sony Brevia are the best
