In Philippines Congress last week, a waitress from a catering service accidentally served a Muslim congresswoman with a noodles with pork. Although, the waitress knows that the congresswoman is a Muslim, she didnt know that the food has pork in it. The congresswoman then got very mad, slapped the waitress in her face, throw the glass full of water on her and tried to hurt her with a table knife.
When the waitress filed a complaint to the police, the congresswoman is telling the police that they cannot file a case againts her because what she did is legal in Muslim. It is legal for them to kill someone who gave them pork to eat! Her Muslim colleague even said that it is better to watch your wife being raped by men than to eat pork!
Can the Quran law overrule the republic's law?
Are all Muslims as crazy and war freak like this? All the while, I thought that educated Muslims are gentle and peace loving, only those illiterate are extremnists. But, It seems they are are not..

Svartalf....why did you not make research before saying that my question is just made up? This incident was televised and reported on national TV even in some cable TV..It is still subject to investigation until now..Even the caterer cancelled their P6Million contract to the Philippiners congress because of this incident.

In researching this, I found there are basically two issues:
*Was the serving of pork to a Muslim a deliberate act?
"The question is, was it deliberate or not, and my belief was that it wasn't deliberate. Pansit is a Filipino dish that is traditionally served with pork and pork liver. Any Filipino knows that that is how it is served. Her (the server's) only mistake is that she didn't know a Muslim was ordering the pansit."
*Is eating pork a sin for a Muslim?
"Eating pork for Muslims is a sin if they did it knowingly and in their full acceptance and knowledge and without being forced to by any reasonable hardship...others who don't know their religion well think they are contaminated for life for ever touching pork. This is of course is wrong."
Since I am neither Muslim nor Catholic, I can only add what I know to be true:
"Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

Not all Muslims are this "fanatic"... and the congress woman's actions only prove how uncivilized "she" is. Don't lump the whole Muslim religion around her or any other extreemists because that is not going to paint an accurate picture.
As for the law... religion or not, the diplomat assaulted the waitress. I'm hoping Singapore justice deals with this appropriately because an honest mistake is not warranted of such retribution. Had I been the waitress... (if I was a girl) I would have returned the "favor"... as in... she tried to stab me so I punched her...

This is no doubt an extreme case, but Muslims have been trying for years to circumvent Western laws. I have no doubt the woman in question felt justified in doing what she did, however, the laws of civilization must overrule laws of individual faiths. I think the waitress should keep pressing her case for what would be, in the USA, a felonious assault. I hope she doesn't let the Muslim community intimidate her into not pressing charges. The woman who attacked her is clearly dangerous.

I can't tell you what the Quran says about being accidentally served pork, but I can say that *NO* all Muslims are not crazy like that lady is. It sounds like she's got some real issues to deal with, and I don't think they've all got to do with what religion she is.
Christians can react badly to things, too. It's a personality flaw that people from any creed, color, or nationality can have. I think anger management classes would do her some good.

have you heard about the phillipino who was given a trillion $ cell phone bill and thrown into prison because it was his disceased fathers phone bill?
This womens reaction was similar to many gang killings had throughout history. Some people are just so EVIL that the life of another is not worth anything.
So what is the worth of a soul.?
but remember this in the days of moses and Joshua there were many wars and peoples killed just because they were NOT israelite. also remember that TEMPLARS are alleged to be guilty of rape while on missions of holy wars! So many people have been guilty of crimes that they justify through relgious beliefs.
Look at the daughter of Lot. She drugged and raped her father without asking God in prayer in righteousness and went to her sister and told her it was an "act" of righteousness but done in secrecy. is it any wonder God destroyed Sodom and Gormorah if the mother of a family will teach their daughter to learn such wickedness

I suspect your example is made up. The Filipino state being dominantly catholic, and since what you describe could only happen, if at all, in a place so completely dominated by islam to the point that any acts taken in the name of that religion take precedence over civil law...which might happen in the middle East, certain areas of Africa, or Indonesia, but not likely in the Philippines.
EDIT. I did not "do research", because this bit did not make French news, nor my usual US news sites. I had to do further research to verify the news item. I add you might have added a link yourself.
Now, I find that lady legislator's behavior unqualifiable. I understand her dismay at being served food forbidden by her faith (but how did she recognize it?), but her reaction is completely out of proportion, especially as she did not take time to ascertain who did what and where responsibilities lie.
At any rate, I hope she suffers full consequences for mistreatment of that waitress. shari'a is not the law of the land, and she is not above the law. Does violent crime (ok, simple assault and battery) carry a criminal record preventing holding status as a rep there?

The root word of civilization is civility. The difference between the civilized and barbarians is that civilized people will find non-violent ways to work out differences and reach agreements on how to act in public. Reason and civility are the cornerstones of world peace. Those who resort to violence, and justify it on a religious basis, rather than rely on the precedents of law and civil behavior have publicly categorized themselves as Barbarians.

Ramadan was voted a national holiday there as well the troops were recalled from Iraq. There are many Muslims there especially in Mindanao. No, what she did was wrong. Being an official others eyes are upon her.

wow, sadly enough many of them do think that they can get away with such behavior. Their irradic decisions negatively spin off on others lives. I guess it will just take them a while to stop being so set in their ways, and open up their mind to the world (not all muslims, just the extremists).

Unfortunately, the Congress woman may be protected by diplomatic immunity and that would mean that she is not subject to 'some of the laws' of the country she is visiting. If she isn't, the Philippine people ought to hang her out to dry - what you've told us is a disgusting example of misguidance.
