one of my many concern is how long i have to stay in a specific state (e.g. cali) to gain my residency ? or do i even qualify for that??

If you already live in the U.S., you just move. States don't really have any residency requirements.

If you live outside of the U.S., you'd be applying for American citizenship, and it doesn't matter what state you want to move to, because it's a federal process. You'd need to get in touch with the nearest U.S. Consulate or Embassy for further information.

The standard for most states is 30 days. Or, if you begin working in that state before 30 days pass.

If you plan to live someplace, you must change your driving license (or state identity card) and vehicle registration within 30 days. That makes you a resident. You should register to vote as well. (This does not address legal immigration status. Just as a citizen as resident of a state.)
