If you die today where will you go? The Bible says that only those that know Christ will go to heaven to be with him. All others will go to hell forever. Accepting Christ is so easy. All you have to do is pray to Jesus and ask for him to come into your heart. So, what keeps people from making this decision?

How do you know the God of the Bible is or isn't?

Actually I have done a lot of research on the subject and have come to my own conclusions. Have you? Or do you just listen to what other people have to say?

Two of many answers:

John 3:19:
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

People are afraid to take an honest look at themselves because of the hurt they've caused others. They just can't face it.

Also,

Jeremiah 29:13:
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

You can't find God unless you are ardently looking for Him. Plain and simple.

These are just two scriptures of many on this subject, but I limit the number of them I post, so that my posts will actually get read.

Good question.

Where do I stand with God? ...I don't.

What keeps people from making the decision [to believe]?

I don't know about other people, but what keep me from believing is simple reason and a logical decision that "God" and "life after death" and "damnation to hell" and the "promise of heaven" and a good deal more about God-based religious philosophy is just a lot of nonsense. Most children can process that much in a heartbeat...

Why do you persist at believing that it isn't incredible and fantastic and fanciful and unbelievable? It certainly can't be factual.

That one can be alive after he dies or that places which can't be mapped and located in any way actually do exist is a lunatics sort of thinking, isn't it? Where's the logic in any of that?

Shall I go on? How about the guy who was swallowed by the whale...? That's a good one.

There are plenty of reasons not to believe. You might be better off to ask why believing might be worthwhile or beneficial... Anyhow, Good luck.

Post Script to luko b:

My experience is quite different than yours... I've seen that the young grow into their wisdom and abandon their childhood brain washing. They lose their blindness as they grow... they become stronger and more sensible and they reject the idea of God. (Yeah kids.)

What country are you in, anyhow?

Some people do not believe that God exists. Some people don't believe that Jesus is "real". Some people may think Jesus is a false prophet who has fooled people into believing in him. Accepting Christ is not easy if you do not actually believe in him. There are a million other reasons.

Absolutely nothing, I have found through personal experience that most people pray to Jesus and ask forgiveness later in their lives or do it anyway but tell others a different story.
It's just to do with the stubborness of some people I guess and the belief that they have time to make that decision and they can do it later. It's also the mis-belief that you miss out on this...this and this so people want to live a 'normal' life (as they call it) and have fun, so they can get serious later "Just in case".

I dunno, I would just rather get it over and done with now so I know where I will be 100%!!!

Beliefs, other religions. You shouldn't think every one should follow this. I belive that there is a God and as long as I live a good life and do what is right that i will at least go to heaven, maybe purgatory. But I do not have a religion either. I'm agnostic. I also strongly belive that you should not force personal beliefs on another person.

Seriously? I can just pray to Jesus and ask him to come into my heart and that is it? Wow..too cool! I'll do that. I wonder if Hitler and Jeffrey Dahmer did that as well? I bet they did. Hmm....I'll have to think about this a little longer.

Edit after thought:
I have thought about it...and I reject this offer to go to heaven. I can't understand how heaven is going to be any fun for me while my loved ones are being eternally tortured by my roommate...and to have to spend eternity with Dahmer and Hitler while good men like Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein are being eternally tortured..no way. I will go to hell and devise a plan to overthrow god and free the good people out of hell.

I stand in perfect righteousness covered in Jesus blood, baptized by water and spirit, and I am ready. I pray even now, L-rd Jesus that we get an ingathering of your spirit throughout this forum.

Bless you for asking

I stand where ever God puts me. In the lyrics of Rich Mullins (paraphrased) "I can't tell your leading me, Unless you've lead me hear. to Where I'm lost enough to let myself be lead."
Praise Lord Jesus may His Kingdom come and His Will be done.

people don't make that decision because they aren't as easily fooled as others. also, its really quite debatable whether the bible even includes the idea of hell.

I suppose it all depends upon your belief.
Jesus died so that i and everyone else can live, so why should I want to go to either, my place is here on earth with the rest of perfected mankind
