Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) operates nine solar power plants which use parabolic trough solar thermal electric technology along with natural gas to generate electricity in the Mojave Desert. The plants produce 354 MW, making it the largest solar plant of any kind in the world. By comparison, the largest photovoltaic (solar panel) plant produces only 12 MW.
