Messianic Judaism is a general term for those who believe they can maintain their Jewish traditions, feasts, etc and still be evangelical Christians. Jews for Jesus is a specific group of Messianic Jews.

I should say though that many non-Jews belong to Messianic Jewish congregations because many non-Jews are interested in learning and practicing a Jewish-type lifestyle, thinking that it is the correct way for a Christian to live/worship, etc.

"Messianic Judaism" is a broad label that covers a wide range of groups. There is a spectrum of observance within that label. Some Messianics are Shomer Shabbos and very observant in all areas of their lives. At the other end of the spectrum are Jewish Baptists (or whatever) that basically just go to church. Jews for Jesus as an organization are not very observant, nor do they particularly encourage Torah observance. They are just a missionary group out looking for converts.

The more observant Messianic sects do not look favorably upon J4J and think that J4J would do better to become more Torah observant.

Of course, it doesn't matter where in the spectrum a Messianic Jew happens to be -- Orthodox Judaism still considers them all to be heretical.

I agree with happy pilgrim and am living proof of his last statement.

I am a Christian who feels this is the way to live.
