They have borrowed from secular ethics and now they don't do such things or stone their disobedient children..or burn unbelievers at the stake..even though an inspiration for that can be found in John 15:6 of the NT.
Psalms 137:9 is the verse you are referring to about dashing babies against rocks. In their defense this was a statement given by god not a command to do it...just that you should be happy to do it.

Obviously, you must be one of the bashed children.
Christian believe that the [Christian] bible is the word of God as spoken by the prophets. From the tone of your question, you do not. The bible is not a conversion manual, but resource to the believers.
So you question should read: Why do I not believe in the bible. It is obviously not the rocks. Without belief, nothing will make any sense.

This certainly isn't in the recent testomony, is it? i do no longer think Jesus ever suggested something approximately smashing infants against rocks. it particularly is the livid lament of somebody from a conquered and concern human beings, thinking how plenty he hates residing in the midst of his human beings's conquerors and doing their bidding, appearing as their slave. The sentiment is terrible, needless to say, and additionally quite human. no longer something divinely inspired approximately it in any respect, yet organic for a dependable Jew to be feeling throughout the time of the Babylonian Captivity.

Have you tried asking those people why they have done that?..... If you get the opportunity......Try it!!!!..... and you will begin to see something.... that the problem is not Christianity, as much as it is the people who profess themselves to be Christian......
