I started dating my best friend about 3 years ago. Our relationship grew into much more that just being friends. Over the course of the last couple of years, he kept asking me to marry him. I wasn't ready and just wanted to continue dating.

This week, he basically quit answering his phone when I call, not writing back when I email him (with the exception of asking if he was mad, which he replied "no") and just not responding to me.

I've heard that "falling off the face of the earth" is one way to break up with someone, but I'm baffled about this. Am I being dumped? What do I do if he won't answer my calls, emails or other?

When a guy wants to get married, there can only be 2 reasons:

either because he loves you deeply and is willing to commit the rest of his life with you
or
he just wants to seal the deal and possess you so that noone else can have you.

If he's asking you because of the 1st reason then right now he's probably hurt that you don't feel the same way about him. I know I would be...getting rejected over and over again...no sure if my girlfriend loves me the way I love her. But in time, he'll forgive and forget because all he wants to do is to make you happy. =)

If he's doing it for the 2nd reason, then he should be pissed off right now. He'll probably continue to be stubborn and not talk to you until you feel so guilty that you apologizes and forced to say yes.

Whatever the reason is...know that you are not getting dumped. You are in control so if anyone is getting dumped, it will be him. =)

I don't think he's dumped you. He probably is just hurt and needs some time alone and away from you. First you can give him some time and wait for him to come around and contact you. Second you can show up at his house or work and talk things out face to face. It sounds like both of you need to sit and have a serious talk about your relationship and where its headed. If the two options I indicated don't work out you can always write a specific email to him explaining how you feel and what you want from the relationship he'll definitely respond you with his true feelings. Best of luck to both of you.

Can you manage to meet him instead of calling him up or e-mailing him? I don't think he's dumped you already. He's either mad or hurt, although he said he's not mad. That, I do NOT believe. I hope you two can work things out asap. Best wishes and good lucik!!!

I think the fact that he responded with a no to one of your emails is a sign that he is trying to let you know that you are in danger of losing him.

You have to chose; that is what engagements are for, to test the marriage waters.

I think he is embarresed. He probably told his people and now he dosnt have good news. So I would see him, where u cant be avoided. But other than that, u cant make him respond to you.

its kinda of sounds like your Benin dumped, but you should ask him that and not us. You said he will answer if you ask him if he's mad, so he has to be reading what you send him so just ask him and if he doesn't answer it then you know that he's trying to break up with you.

No offense deary, but he wants you to commit yourself more to the relationship, whatever that end is. You sound a lot like my gf. I want to know what SHE'S waiting for.
