He will do everything he does now. My neutered male is an incredible hunter. He is not fat, very active, and very very good at taking care of strange things that enter my yard (rats, birds, possums).

Neutering your animal has innumerous health benefits and very few negative side effects.

If he plays now he will play after his surgery. He won't get fat if you don't over feed him. If you encourage him to play by leaving out fun toys both of these problems will be solved. My cats have always liked things on strings type of toys.
If you get him neutered, he will be less likely to pee in places other than the litter box and will not roam around looking for love in all the wrong places. If he stays close to home, he will not get beat up in fights with other cats or hit by a car. He will not contribute to the cat over population problem.

both my male cats are neutered. One is a year old, the other is 8 yrs old. BOTH play with their toys, run up and down the hallway, the yard , the garage - as active as can be. The older one is a ite overweight despite all the exercise (he is 14 lbs), and the younger one is simply big but not fat. In answer to your question, I'd say that your cat will continue to play and do cat things even after neutering... gradually slowing down as his years climb up. And he could get fat so you'll need to watch what you feed him and see to it that he gets plenty of exercise (running, playing, walking, etc.). Don't encourage him to just laze around in his favorite spot - give him plenty of stimuli to play. That's what I do with my two boys.

If he plays now he will play after the surgery. All of my cats are either spayed or neutered and they all play. If your cat is going to be a strictly indoor cat he might get fat if he doesn't get enough exercise through play time. You may have to get him started playing every day to get him into the habit. If he plays by himself now he shouldn't have any problems when the anesthesia wears off and he feels better. I have 6 cats and 2 of them are chubby and the rest are normal weight. 3 are indoor/outdoor cats and one of them is chubby. 3 are indoor cats and one of them is chubby. I feed them all Purina Indoor Formula dry food.
Your cat will be happier and healthier after he has been neutered. He may even become more affectionate than he is now (that is if he is affectionate now). I've had cats that are older neutered and their personalities didn't change. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Usually nudered cats tend to get fatter and become more loveable. If hes young then you should be find and he will probably be just as playful.

Yes he will play again and yeah he could become lazy and lay around and sleep all day, become your best friend and love you for you. I have a female that was fixed six years ago. She is the most loving cat I have ever seen. She now loves everyone and most people who meet her love her to. She loves attention and petting. She eats, sleeps, and you know the other. But she is always there ready for her attention from me.
