I was born in Croydon Surrey but do not know of anyone who has had that surname. Genes .com might help you but surnames are sometimes a corruption of two Families names merged together or they may of course originated from the place names.

Probably from Croydon. Now a suburb of London UK. It was once a village. I guess your ancestors came form there.
