Well this is a vague question, but please say anything! I'm writing this essay that will be due tomorrow and I'm rushing scared! So I'm gathering some ideas from you guys

This is what I have so far (Its amateuristic I know but I don't plan to be a writer, its for highschool):

To many people America is a land of dreams and opportunity. People from all over the seas have migrated to the land of hope in search of riches, better lives for their families, etc.

Okay well actually the topic is the impossibility of the American Dream. And I start with an intro about it first and move on to how it is as easy as it sounds.

thats its an illusion. for it be a dream of americans, first you would think that 'america' speaks as 1 voice, yet we see how divided the country is over political issues, war issues etc. so, i guess when someone speaks of a dream, the people who speak of it - really just mean their own dreams, selfish it may seem. cos i doubt that my dreams and yours are the same. so its all down to perception, and its definitely not even a majority rule kind of dream, its just a statement used to justify and promote action against anyone who has a different 'dream'. ... i guess some people in power need dreams like this - perfect dreams , in an imperfect world, to escape from the reality they create in the meantime.

when I see the words the American dream I remember the famous words of Dr. Martin Luther King. Maybe that could help you on your write up. A dream of a man of seeing one day everyone treated as equals. Because we still have a long way to go to seeing everyone treated equally. And for me that is still an American dream. To accept each other, even if you are black, Asian, Muslim, Cristian, female, male, Hispanic etc. To live in Peace and accept everyone else for who they are and not to invade them because we believe we may be better than them.

Peace and Love and Harmony to everyone in the planet!

It still is reachable, but, an individual must educate himeself and work diligently all of his or her life. It is important to be able to delay instant gratification which is a defining characteristic of the middle class. We Americans tend to live in a spoiled society. A professor once said that "Americans always want 20% more than they have to be satisfied." It is important to know what will truly make you happy.
