You could send them a care package.

Mail-call is very high on a soldiers priority list...any news from home is welcome! I had a pen-pal during Viet-nam (I was just a kid then) and I tried to write at least once a week, and at least once a month would send a care package with cookies, Kool-aid, and a couple of comic books. Believe me, they were well recieved and I felt like I was making a good contribution to a soldiers morale. Don't feel bad if you don't get a response right away, sometimes duty gets in the way of writing time. I'm sure your soldier will write when time permits. Thank you for caring!

You should write as often as you feel like writing. The more letters the soldier receives, the more she will like it. You can tell her that you don't expect her to answer each and every one, but rather you are writing to bring her cheer. I know mail is VERY appreciated by soldiers.

YOu sound like a wonderful person. I think once a week would be great. You restore my faith in mankind. Thank you!
