First, give him a bath once a week instead of every other day. Their skin can get a little dry and flaky if bathed that often. When you wash him, you should wash all the way to the top of the head but no further forward.
Because of the way their ears are you need to use an ear cleaning solution for the insides of the ears once a week. Pugs are very prone to ear infections and they can smell, if you're not looking at the ears closely you may not notice the problem.
Then, with the wrinkles use a washcloth with warm water and a small amount of anti bacterial soap or you can use a baby wipe. Gently lift the wrinkles up at the forehead and gently clean the folds, then use another soft cloth to gently pat the wrinkles dry.
If your pugs wrinkles smell bad the next day already it very likely has an infection and a trip to the vet for appropriate meds will solve the problem.
As I'm sure you have noticed, pugs can get a bit burpy and gassy, so if your puggy is burpy, it may not be too pleasant of a smell. (Trying to say it nicely here).
Also, brush your pugs teeth with cet toothpaste from the vet.
In between baths you can rub your pug down with one of those lovegloves, they are the gloves with the little bristles, it gets a lot of the shedding hair off.
Good luck!!

The key with cleaning a dog with wrinkled skin is taking care to get between the wrinkles & clean them thoroughly, always making sure they are dry after. Bacteria & dirt can easily collect in the wrinkles causing infections or irritations, which can often give off an unpleasant smell. There is no need to give a dog a bath unless it gets very dirty.Usually a few times a year in general is OK. Instead, with your dogs, take a damp cloth to the wrinkles in their face - paying close attention to the wrinkle just above the nose. No soap is needed. If the smell really does bother you I suggest you dry a dry shampoo or a cleansing spray rather than over bathing. You can find them at pet supply stores.

Is it because of the folds in his skin around his muzzle, or do you think the smell is emanating from his mouth (i.e., his teeth-- if he has a lot of tartar or dental disease, it could be causing bad breath-- possibly what you are smelling)? If it is because of the former, have you talked to your vet about it? They'll probably want you to use a shampoo (probably Chlorhexiderm) everyday, and make sure to dry between the folds well. It might also be dermatitis, and might require antibiotics on top of the shampoo. I'd get it checked out, and talk to your vet about options on how to keep it smelling clean!

First, you're bathing him too much. All that moisture (even if you blow dry him, he's still getting wet) is bad for his skin. Yeast and bacteria breed in the moisture and cause odor. You need to go to a vet to see if he needs medicine. He may need something to make the infection go away.
Then, only bathe him every other week. Except his face. There are baby wipes and drying powders to keep his face clean. Ask the vet for the best ones. Use them every other day or so. Always wash his face after meals, food particles can cause odor and infection too.

Take a baby wipe and always wash his face every time it starts to smell. Pugs can get breathing problems if you dont do this.

Use Pamper's baby wipes for his face. You can also use Colgate's Men''s shaving foam (old fashoined cheap kind) then rub the foam into his coat, and wipe dry with a washcloth..Safe for face or an all over bath..Also makes his coat soft, and is good for it..

it's the way the dog smells... nothing you can do. It's like trying to make a vagina not smell.... no matter what you do it's always going to smell like something... learn to love it
