I know to call 911 if I see him. I just want to know how to detect that he has been there, like flour on the ground and window sill, that sort of thing.

If your interest is proving that he was there to the authorities for the purposes of possible prosecution, here are a couple of suggestions. These come from my own life experience as a police officer.

(1) Create a "dirt trap" under the window(s) that you suspect the peeper is looking in. Rake up the area and make sure no one walks through it. If there is no dirt try spreading baby powder or plaster of paris dust across the area. If someone walks into the area, their footprints will be left behind for the authorities to use as evidence.

(2) Invest in a video camera. Set it up inside the residence looking out the window you suspect the peeper to be looking in. Make sure to tape over the red record light with a piece of electrical tape so the crook can't see it. Run the camera on a long recording time so you can catch the whole night. If it appears the peeper visited you, watch the tape until you find the incident and voila! you got the evidence you need to put him away.

Good luck!

LOL LOL LOL I love these questions! 1) How many of you are window peepers? Be honest ;) I am. When walking home from school with my friends there's always this old couple who leave their curtains open and are watching TV, so we stand there for, like, five minutes, watching what they are but we obviously can't hear it, lol. I'm almost crapping my pants in case they see us while my friends are like "Ha, this is so cool!" 2) Do you think your curiosity in other peoples lives has influenced (or explains) you as a reader/writer? Oh, good - I was wondering why this is in B&A, lol. Uhm, not really because I'm REALLY not a people person so I prefer to make up characters. 3) If you have looked inside someone's window, what is the most memorable thing you have seen? Has this manifested into any of your stories in some way? Have you seen this same thing in a book you read? The candles for Hanukah (is that how you spell it? Probably not, lol). Yep, that's the most memorable thing. 4) If you were to glimpse into your protagonists window on any given day (nice day-weather wise/emotionally or bad), what would you see? Ooh, nice. I would see nothing. He lives in a really poor place so he doesn't have many possessions, and isn't stupid enough to leave what he does have on the windowsill, where anyone could grab it. *Reads question properly*. Oh! Not on the windowsill. Lol, I'm such an idiot. Okay, I would see a grotty little bed with a tiny chest of drawers next to it full of his clothes and on top of it something sharp that he could use to defend himself if he had to. 5) Pick two characters of yours. What would one think if he/she glimpsed into the window of the other character? If Mathew looked into Dani's window he'd see an unexpected mess, bed sheets a mess, but seperate from everything else would be a picture of either him on his own or the two of them together. Later on, he'd point it out to her just to embarrass her, or he'd keep his mouth shut and think it was sweet. No, I really liked these questions, lol xxx Edit - Lol, wow, you have a nice neighbour. My neighbours give us Italian cake at Christmas (they're Italian)... they never leave their curtains open, lol...

ok, first set up a large motion sensing halogen light, they are like $20 at lowes then have it installed by a professional or someone who knows what they are doing. It will come on if it sences movement and they are blinding bright, for a second or two anyway. If that dont work go to your local hunting shop and get a bear trap. just kidding you could always dig a big hole too, so when he/she trips and falls they make a loud noise. Or just get a large dog no better yet a chijuajua those things are about the loudest dog out there. not to mention they think they are 10 ft tall

The first thing to do is buy some one way drapes. Those have funnel type of fenestrations so you can see outside but it is almost impossible to see inside. From outside the color of the drapery is white.

To compliment this and to discourage and even catch your peeper, set up some motion detector lights, set up a neighborhood block watch, use surveillance cameras, or hire a detective or private eye.

While a motion light may run your peeper off (obviously a good thing) someone like this needs to be caught in the act. People like this may later graduate to stalking, assault, etc.

A good option for catching this perv would be to set up a motion activated camera. I use one to photograph deer and other wildlife. Once it detects motion it activates a hidden infrared flash. Using this type of device the perv would be caught and he wont even know until he is arrested. Here are links to some good cameras for this use. Unfortunately they are not real cheap, but you may be able to find one cheaper somewhere on the net. Once you get the perv's photo turn it over to Police.

An infrared motion detector can detect the presence of an individual and sound an alert. You can buy a wired or a wireless version at Radio Shack or any place security equipment is sold.
