Power transformers are used in power system transmissions in many applications. Specifically, step up transformers are used before sending power over long distance transmission lines, and then step down tranformers are used before the loads. This reduces transmission line losses.

"Audio Transformers" used in,you guessed it,
Audio work.

Some transformers have one or more "Taps"
on the secondary, For different voltages.

You can check "Star" and "Delta" wiring although
don't know much about this. A "Lineman" could
tell you something.

Stepping voltage down from the higher values used for long distance distribution to a lower voltage which is easier to distribute locally.
