The higher the quality of the speakers,
the more realized the break-in time period is.
Most high-quality or high-end speakers can benefit
from anywhere from 8 hours to 1,000 hours of burn-in time.

How to burn-in speakers? Basically, by playing them at
moderate levels. You can get a burn-in CD to do this.

New speakers require burn in. That said, there is little evidence of the need for more than at most a minute or so of use.

Nevertheless some manufactureurs and many audiophiles recommend new speakers not be played very loud for the first 50-200 hours of use and allowed to "age" like a good wine to improve their sound.

It's one of those things that can't hurt and -- who knows -- may actually help. Your decision.

For an example of manufacturer burn-in recommendations from one high end speaker manufacturer (Totem Acoustics) see link 1.

For a technical discussion see Link 2.
