No, a dog can aggravate allergies, with similar symptoms of a cold (stuffy nose, itchy eyes and sneezing) but dogs don't give us any diseases. We can't catch anything that they might have, other than some parasites..

Could very well be an pet allergy to the new dog. Go to an allergist to have it checked. No cold should last longer than 2 weeks. Clariten does not work for allergies to animals as per my doctor.

Sounds more like allergies than a cold, but you should be checked out by your doctor.
There are very few diseases that we humans can catch from dogs. Some of their parasites can affect people, and of course any mammal can get and transmit rabies (not that I think this is what is wrong here!), but your cold (if that is what you have) is not caused by your dog.

You probably mean you have allergies. Some people are allergic to animals. I guess you would have to board the pet awhile or get a friend to keep him and see if you get better. Allergies can be caused by so many things.

No way. Are you sure it's a cold and not allergies? Try taking some Claritin and see if you get better. If you do, you maybe allergic. :-(

Great possibility you may be allergic to dogs unless you are outside a lot and wearing inappropriate clothes.
