hi, my 9 month female dog goes through my stuff when i've gone to work, im only out for maybe 3-4 hours tops, and i let her free around the house...

i close most doors, so that she doesn't go into the rooms, but she's been going through some of my things, on tables, chairs etc.

i've videoed her, and she does it RIGHT AFTER we leave for work, no hesitation.

Is this a sign of separation anxiety, i know some dogs bark, some dogs chew, she just goes picks at our stuff, and destroys SOME stuff.

sometimes, she doesn't , but most times, she does.

I'm starting to teach her tables are off limits... but the problem is that she doesn't do it when we are around, never! Only when we are gone, she destroys paper, pens and other random things on a table - mind you, she has to really reach for the table!

please help! thanks!

ps. I've tried punishing her, saying no, but i think it's too late, cuz there is a 3-4 hour gap between when she does it, and wen i tell her off!

thanks

deff. sounds like seperation anxiety .

you might want to invest in a crate for when your gone ..

you can learn more by googling the info

mouse traps set on the table will break her from it, and also yes it is seperation anxiety my heeler has the same problem with destroying things(always mine) when i've been gone for a couple of hours, she'd pissed off at you for leaving her all alone, try turning on the radio and buying a chew toy you only let her have when you leave.

Crate train the dog! It's not hard! It reduces anxiety on the dog and saves your stuff! There's plenty of info online and trust me, it's not cruel! My dogs LOVE their kennels...it's their own personal space where they can hang out and chew on some toys!

My sisters dog did this. when you came home he knew he was in trouble but continued to tear through stuff. Now they have to keep him in a crate when they arn't home. Hes now learning and occasionally they let him out for a quick trip to the store or somthing. try that.
