You don't say which state you are from but, most cities have a Township Trustee. Find out which township you are in. Sometimes you are required to repay the money or do some resititution but it is often worth it. Another option is area churches. There are also some sites on the web that help with onetime problems such as yours. Try looking under "housing assistance". In our city we have a couple of other programs that fall under the umbrella of "human services" - try that in your phone book. Good luck honey. I know it must be a hard time for you.

Your church if you belong to one. Also, look for thrift stores, the big ones with the offices on the sides. I have lived in several states, and they are everywhere. They are not as popular as the salvation army or goodwill, but that is a plus because they are not as hard to get the help. I look for them to volunteer all of the time, and I have seen them work miracles with people. If you cannot find them, locate a Foodbank, and ask them. Then you benefit 2 ways, they will give you food, and then help you to get help with your bills. The larger organizations have such a huge load, that they are usually not in the position to help as easy. Another idea would be to call a church, and see if the secretary can help find you resources. Most people do not realize it, but they are a world of knowledge. They have access to all of the members, and all of the community organizations go through her to get donations, so she has all of the information on at least a direction to send you in. Good luck. You are in my prayers.
P.S.- Another option would be, call every friend and family you have and borrow $20. It is not as overwhelming to each person, and it will add up if you know enough people. 5 people is $100, so you could get a majority of it, and maybe if not all of it, your landlord may work with you on the rest.
