What you should do is find an all night vet and call them. If they feel the dog needs to be seen, then you'll need to get in the car and drive your dog there. They may simply say to feed him lots of food to dilute the chocolate and watch him like a hawk, but they may also say that he needs to come in ASAP.

These are the responsibilities of owning a dog.

If he ate it recently, like in the last 30 - 45 minutes it may be helpful to make him throw up. You can do that by administering salt or hydrogen peroxide. Keep giving it to him until he throws up. You will have to force it, he will not willing eat salt or swallow hydrogen peroxide. However if it was a small amount of chocolate and it wasn't bakers chocolate most likely the worst thing will happen is that it will give him diarrhea. If your really concerned call your vet at home or poison control.

Start with a tablespoon of Peroxide and wait for it to vomit. You may have to give several tablespoons. But no more than 3-4.
Milk chocolate really isn't a problem. It is the bakers chocolate that can kill a dog. My Chinese Crested ate a Cadbury Egg tinfoil and all-never even threw it up.

Real chocolate is poison to your dog, probably not the chocolate in that pie.
I have a dog that ate a tube of oil paint one time.
Freaked out.
Vet said to take table salt and pour it down their throat until they vomit all the junk out, you have to do this a few times in a row to get everything out.
It worked, he lived, we have had him for 11 years after he ate the paint.
I am sure that you found out, your dog probably just got diarrhea.

If you catch your dog quick enough, you can give them 2 tbsp of hydrogen peroxide to make them vomit. It works. I had to do it to my dog a couple of weeks ago. Chocolate is toxic and depending on how much your dog ate, what type of chocolate and how much he weighs, you might want to at least call the vet. You never know how it will affect them and by the time you see the effects, it could be too late.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The amount of chocolate is minimal, just avoid letting the dog eat any more chocolate in the near future.

If you can't find a vet that's open, and you're really worried, and this has happened in the last half hour...you can give him a capful of hydrogen peroxide to make him vomit.

it depends on the size of your dog. chocolate is very bad for dogs but if it is eaten in small amounts, it should be ok. smaller dogs are more prone to get sick so try and be careful next time and keep an eye on him

Over the years, my dogs have gotten into chocolate numerous times. Sometimes they throw it up, sometimes they don't. I've never seen a worse reaction than that. So don't worry unless your dog acts really sick. I mean more than just throwing up chocolate.

I read some where(don't you hate when you can't remember) that said that dogs were actually not supposed to have bakers chocolate. So you may not have anything to worry about. Please still take him to the vet. you know better safe than sorry. You do not have any emergency vet clinics around. We even have one in Concord in our little New Hampshire.
