I used to be married to an American person and believe me it is not easy to just move here. You can come here to work if you already have a job guarenteed, especially if it is in a shortage area, or if you are already the spouse of a British citizen. In order to become a British citizen you have to have lived here for quite a while and be "naturalised" and also pass a citizenship test to show that you understand British history and culture. There is no "green card" scheme.
Yep, everything is more expensive. My American spouse and other American friends are always shocked and appalled at the price of fuel, houses, food, clothing, etc.

Pues mi amiga, en Estados Unitdos you'll find it's muy facil to entra el pais, probably because it's very rare someone is asking you about your paperwork and trabajar skills as you run across their southern border. Green cards is a American thing, just because you have a green piece of paper doesn't mean you can stay the England, however I should try that el teimpo proximo fui to the US. If you want quick citizenship go the the US, I hear the Latinos are really pushing the amenisty bills simply because most ii's are there same race and I don't say that with disrespect, it's just simply a fact sort like our muslim friends here start to foam at the mouth anytime I mention the words "Richard and Lionhearted" and "crusade". They look out for their "mother people", and it's a bit of a shame we Brits don't have those nationalistic feelings for other Brits anymore. However the only thing I think you need to be a Englishmen is to have a pure heart and a positive attitude to embrace the british culture, unlike some "Brits" I could name. Donde vas however, Adois.

Just come over and live here for a while before you decide to stay. It is very expensive to live in London and the South East ( a total rip off in fact!!). Parts of the North are just a wasteland, no jobs, high crime etc.
A pack of 20 cigarettes costs $7.50. A pint of beer in the pub costs $4.20. A gallon of petrol is $5.70. A reasonable meal out is about $10-$12. The biggest rip off are rent prices and house prices ($90 a week rent for a 1 bedroom dump of an appartment).
It is a beautiful country though, and the people on the whole are very tolerant and like Americans.

You have to have lived here for five years as a permanent resident (ie: not on a temporary visa) or less if married to a Briton if you want to apply for citizenship. It takes almost a year to proces the application. What are your grounds for moving here - do you have a job lined up, close family connections, or special skills? You don't need citizenship just to live and work here; I've lived here nine years and am not bothering with citizenship. I would wait and see if you like it first before thinking about such a step, for which (unless your parents or grandparents are British) you would not be eligible for for awhile anyway.

You get English citizenship by applying.
They do not have green cards in England. I'm pretty sure it's called a Permanent Resident Card (PM card).
It is VERY expensive in the UK (United Kingdom - England). Much more expensive that the Unietd States, especially in regards to housing, cars, and gas prices.

Everything is much, much more expensive over here. Taxes are phenomenal, fuel is taxed to the hilt, there's a con tax called VAT which adds 17.5% to almost everything you buy, houses are priced according to location - so there are some cheaper properties but they are to be found on council or ex council estates - where all the drug dealers and pimps live.
One thing we have that you won't find much different - dentists are almost all private now (No NHS) so we pay through the nose (or mouth) for looking after our teeth too (that's why our teeth are terrible)

England is very expensive. Fuel, property, cigarettes, car hire etc.,etc.
It's crappy weather wise, the people are not terribly friendly but Tesco's is ace.
Clothing and food are better and cheaper. Come over for a visit first. You may not want to stay!
I used to live in England. I'm now in California! 'Nuff said!

It is WAAAYYY more expensive, due to a failing attempt to keep out the riffraff. Also you'll never want citizenship, because then you'll have to get an US one again when you realise this country is a joke.
