Yikes, there is misinformation here. I even clicked on the link in the first response, because I can't believe people are saying lymph nodes are in your breast. It's clear on the link page as well... The lymph nodes are under your arm. Your arm is near your breast so that's why the lymph nodes are often affected, and those underarm nodes could spread cancer if you don't get treatment. But no, there are no lymph nodes in your breast. They will test to see if the cancer has spread to the nodes in your underarm. There are also nodes near your cervical spine and the groin.

My sister is dealing with this right now. She had a 2cm tumor removed from her breast, and also 10 lymph nodes from under the arm. There was cancer in 2 nodes but 8 looked clear, so she'll have chemo and radiation to kill any cancer that might have been left behind after the surgery. It's scarey and the therapies are traumatic but chances are you will be cured.

Yes there are Lymph notes in the breast region also. Some breast cancers spread to the lymph nodes under a woman's arm. When the lymph nodes are involved in the cancer, they are called "positive." When lymph nodes are free or "clear" of cancer, they are called "negative." Your doctors will examine samples from your lymph nodes under a microscope to determine whether any cancer cells have spread there.

It is very essential to get evaluated by doing a biopsy and your Doctor has suggested rightly for it. Please have it and act as per the advise of Oncologist. Hello People. There are no lymph nodes in your breasts!!!! They are very close but sorry there isn't any in your breasts. Lymph nodes are under the arm and in the clavical area. If they were in your breast then a mastectomy would get rid of them and that isn't the case.

Yes there are lymph nodes. Should one have breast cancer they always check the main node (sentinel node) for cancer cells and if there are some they will take more, sometimes all of them.
