Yes!!!!!!! i know because i grew up in a Pentecostal evangelical church (Assemblies of God). I am now 26 years old and looking back I'm glad I decide to leave that fear mongering cult at age 21. Image growing up and every sermon the pastor fills your heart with guilt and makes you believe you need god or else fire and brimstone, to a child or adolescent thats scary.

BTW don't give me the crap ohhh well those Christians aren't the REAL Christians, because that's the same thing we use to say about you!!

Well theres no right or wrong answer to this question, both beliefs have their cons and pros.

Christianity:
Pro- People believing in this may be happier because they will always know there is some greater being (God) that loves them for who they are.
Con- They may miss out on living life to its fullest in the act of trying to stick to the bible.

Atheist ism:
Pro- Atheists might be happier not sticking to all the rules and getting the most out of life they also aren't constantly worrying about the all age question of heaven and hell.
Con- They might feel lonely, unloved and lost without a religion or belief.

That is a complicated question. I think that they get alot of immediate gratification, acting upon impulses without the dogma of religious ramifications hanging over their heads. I think, however, if Atheists are going to live inside a moral vacuum their lives are going to suck (pun always intended) because an ill lived life always reaps bad rewards in one way or another. Personally, being a Christian and knowing that there is something beyond death gives me a sence of relief that this is not all that there is. I think that Atheism is a very lonly place to be, and I would be sad if this was all that there is, and after I am dead there is nothing...I think that suicide and depression would be something that I would have to struggle with, especially if I was hit hard by a dibilitating injury or a severley disfiguring injury. Life is difficult enough having religious support and faith, I think that it would be even more difficult without it.

I'm an atheist and I'm very happy. I don't weigh every decesion I have based on where I'll be "going" when I'm dead. I weigh my decisions based on my own morals, and not out of fear of "Hell". I don't really think much of an afterlife at all since there is no conclusive evidence to prove that there even is an afterlife.

I used to be a Christian until I was 15, and I then became an agnostic-atheist. Life is so much more simple without having to worry about big bad God watching what you do, and atheism will free your mind from many ignorant and downright stupid thoughts.

I would say no. Non believers may find more pleasure in this life, and it is difficult to be a Christian here on earth. However, true Christians know they are going to Heaven when we die, Athiests are happy only with this life. It may be hard to understand if you arent a Christian, but an afterlife consisting of perfection makes me happy to be a Christian.

I think happiness is a state of mind, not based solely on religious beliefs. I have meet happy atheist and miserable Christians, happy Christians and miserable Buddhists. It depends on how you chose to view the world. Also on wherever you view things in a positive light.

All I can say is: "There is a way the seems right to a man but the end thereof is death." (Proverbs 16:25) They experience a fleshly happiness which is temporal. True happiness is knowing that in Christ you have eternal security. We as Christians don't live for this world, but the world to come.

I am happier as an atheist than I was in 20 years as a Christian. So, there's my vote.

Most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be. I'm an atheist, and the idea that this is it, and there is no afterlife doesn't bother me all that much. To tell you the truth, I'm looking forward to the rest. Oblivion, no more worries, bills, or having to listen to religious blathering? Now THAT'S heaven.
One thing I never figured out: When I went to Catholic school, we were told to hate this life, and spend out time praising God. And our reward for this? You get to go to heaven and spend ETERNITY praising God. Sounds like an ego problem to me.

I think people are just people. But I also think that Atheists are more at peace because we don't have a religion telling us to spread our religion, therefore decreasing conflict in our lives. We live our life now because we believe there's not another one coming.
