Why am I hating Christians although I have born in a traditional christian family?

I became a Christian only two years ago, at age 39. I was raised in an unbelieving family. I have met many people who feel as you do. And I have seen the problem from the outside looking in.

Two years ago I received a beautiful testimony of the lordship of Jesus Christ, delivered by the Holy Spirit. From there, I had to deal with churches and christians. It was often unpleasant.

Church services were boring and irrelevant. Nobody talked about Jesus, or even seemed to be very aware of Him. People were gossipy, uncharitable, judgmental, sometimes underhanded and just plain cruel. People were often suspicious and rejecting of me, as if they couldn't accept that somebody could sincerely become a christian without already having been one their whole life.

Many christians are obsessed with power, authority, and wielding it over others, even while they are saying that they are full of the milk of human kindness. Just look at what they do in the name of politics--as if Jesus was going to manifest himself either as a democrat or a republican. What a joke! Many also think that having money and objects is a measure of their worthiness before God, despite the Bible clearly saying that this is not necessarily so.

I heard stories from friends who had been taken advantage of financially, sexually, and emotionally by pastors and co-parishioners. These stories broke my heart. You probably saw and perhaps experienced a lot of this too. You were on the inside looking out; I was on the outside looking in.

How could I reconcile all this with my testimony? The great thing is, I didn't have to. None of this nonsense is Jesus Christ, and quite obviously so. I only have to accept Jesus as my savior, not this other stuff. My creed is, "Thank you Lord God for raising my Savior Jesus from the dead. I pray for His blessing to be mine. Have mercy on me and my sins in Jesus' name."

The Bible tells you what you need to know about Jesus. Read it with an eye to learning what He said, to whom, how, and why He said it. You'll see He wasn't nuts about the religious authority of the day, because it was...well, it was a lot like religions are now--full of self-important, money-and-power obsessed hypocrites.

Jesus strongly urged that the individual have a relationship with God, not with a church. So study and pray and ask God for everything you need, including a sincere and personal relationship with Him, and for a new perspective on your unfortunate religious past.

Follow what the word of God says about having a relationship with Him, such as loving Him, loving your neighbor as yourself, and serving others, particularly those who are sick, oppressed, imprisoned, and poor. Don't confuse the rules and personalities of organized religion with your testimony of the salvation you receive from Jesus.

Do try to find some Christians you can hang with, whose company you enjoy. Go to church, and try several of them out. Don't think you have to find the right religion or the perfect church--it isn't out there. But do stay away from churches that teach nonbiblical doctrines or that tolerate immoral behavior (again, use the Bible as your guide).

Pray for God to take away your hatred, and to give you a spirit of forgiveness towards those who hurt you. You're not saying "it's okay" that these people hurt you. What you are doing is laying claim to the fresh start that Jesus offers through forgiveness. If you want God to forgive you, you need to forgive others.

And realize something about being an adult, which is that you have to make your own way and create your own good character in spite of what obstacles others have thrown your way. Don't fixate on how you were done wrong, because this is only going to make you miserable, and stunt your emotional maturity.

Christian churches can be a pain, but Jesus is delightful. He had such great things to say, and a God-given way of saying them. Take some time to get to know Him, and ask Him for His peace.

Because we, Christians, can be big jerks.

Fortunately, we don't have a monopoly on stupidity, although we do corner the market on some kinds (I think we're the only group who have 'snake handlers' for 'siblings' :).

Give God a break though, if you are to judge Him, judge Him on His own merits. Since day one, He's been fighting His awful PR group.

Can you imagine if people became Christian on the basis of Jesus' disciples. Judas betrayed Him, Peter lost his temper AND denied him, Thomas doubted him, James and John decided they were better than the others and wanted to sit at His right hand (which really annoyed the others). I think Bartholemew is the only one without a bad rap and that's because we don't know anything about him. So, the pattern continues.

Christians, of all different kinds, have their own set of hoops that everyone has to jump through to be a good Christian. I'm glad I get the option of which type of sinners I get to hang out with on my very troubled walk.

I can't answer without knowing details. I have an urge to dislike atheist, when I should love them. So I pity them and hopefully I will get to forgive them. They don't measure words to try to hurt Christianity. My point is: lack of respect to freedom of faith. I know people that started hating Christians for things that happened in the church. But some of them had good friends at the church and finally, after years, they came to a simple conclusion--- The church is made out of HUMANS!!!! Where there are humans there are problems. The difference is that most christians try really hard to follow Jesus. Those are the people you should get close to. If not, you might make a decision that will cost you eternal life. Remember. GOD IS LOVING. HE IS GIVING ALL THE CHANCES WHILE YOU LIVE. YOU CAN TAKE SO MUCH FROM HIM. BUT IF YOU DENY HIM, ---THAN---HE WILL BE JUDGEMENTAL. In the end.

Perhaps your family members are not protraying and behaving like Jesus Christ to you. Being a traditional Christian will not get you transformed to be like Christ but being a spiritual Christians who walk in the Spirit will. It is time for you all to walk in the Spirit and be filled with the fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness and self control. For love never fails and conquers a multitude of sins.

You probably have not learned to be a true Christian yet coz Jesus said "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you.... & if you claim to be a Christian, you should
learn to love those around you, your family & other Christians around you. Maybe they are not good christians either which is why you have not been taught to be one! But change yourself first before you judge others coz there must be a reason for you to hate them
and these people are not even your enemies.

Maybe you have somehow gotten the idea that Christians ought to be some sort of super beings, and when they turn out to be just plain ol' human beings, subject to the same weaknesses as anyone else, you are disappointed.
That does seem to be a popular concept, for some reason.
Let me try to help clear it up for you. It is Jesus Who is God in the flesh...not Christians. We are just plain ol' human beings, same as you, and, unfortunately, subject to the same foolish notions as anyone else. We can be prejudiced, bigoted, judgmental, and sometimes downright ignorant in our treatment of others. It's all very sad, because we tend to forget that the rest of the world is checking us out, looking for these weaknesses, thinking that somehow, because we aren't perfect, it must mean that our Christ is flawed.
I am very sorry to disappoint you, Hun. I'm praying that I, and others like me, will do a better job of representing our Savior in the future.

Perhaps you hate the cruel and mean-spirited sort that claim to be of Christ, but spew only venom and hatred. Perhaps you aspire to Christ but see only the filth and vitriol that are spread out in His name.

Perhaps you see a loving Christ, but his name being used to fuel hatred and bigotry. His word used as a weapon instead of as a welcome. You see the people around here, acting like some Fred Phelps. The Westboro Baptist Church reigns, and the Temple of Christ is burned as fuel for a hate-filled conflagration.

If I were a Christian, that would surely set me ablaze with rage.

Y ou should not hate Christians. There are many intelligent open minded Christians. Not all Christian are the ignorant fanatics.

Well many people that have turned to other belief systems from christianity feel militant feelings towards them. This is because you are now just being tolerated and are doomed in their eyes, or because your new belief system opens your eyes in ways that many christians will not.

In Chistianity, doubt is a sin.
