Does anyone know if GEMB the issuer of JC Penny,Dillards, Lowe's,HH Gregg, Old Navy/Gap,Wal-Mart. and who knows what other cards report authorized users to the credit bureaus? If not, do you know who does? Please be specific, like is it a store charge, or a visa/master. Also if you know of anyone that does please list also. I know Target doesn't. TIA :)

There are mixed answers here, just like everywhere else. Being an authorized user DOES help your credit if it's the right card. However all cards don't do it. I've seen friends credit reports where they were reported so I know it can happen.

GEMB definitely does; I know because I added my nephew and mom as authorized users. I know Chase does, http://www.chase.com/creditcards , Discover http://www.discovercard.com , American Express http://www.americanexpress.com , and probably all other major jewelry stores, department stores, and places like that. Good luck!

If the company doesn't ask for the Authorized User's social security number, then there is a 99% chance it won't be reported, as the SS# is needed for this.
Sorry I dont know any specific card companies policies such as who does, who doesn't report, but you can generally find out with a phone call or, by checking the authorized user's credit report. After 45-60 days of being added onto someone else's account as an AU, if the information is not showing, most likely they aren't reporting it.
But mostly, its the SS# that is key here.

They all do as long as the primary account holder is reported and most importantly, if the authorized users social is given at the time the authorized users card was given.

if your just an authorized user it wouldn't have anything to do with your credit rating as you are not responsible for paying the bills

you would have to be a joint account holder with the person or have a card in your name only

all credit cards go on your credit bureau the minute you receive one, remember we are in a computerized age, it's an automatic process.
