I agree with you. I was athiest 28 years. I prayed to "jesus" in desperation suffering from severe addictions and criminal charges.
I never thought He would answer, but He did. I saw miracles, and have seen many more since. I believe.
Blessings,
David

So you believe what the Bible says? I don't think that you do. If you really do, I don't see how you keep from going insane. The plain text of the Bible states that a majority of the human race is to be damned to hell for all of eternity..and among those will more than likely be your family and other loved ones. How could you live for one second knowing that someone you loved (or anyone for that matter) was being eternally tortured? I have a heart..I can't believe this, If I thought it were true I would be in a mental hospital right now.
The last thing I would do is revere such a god who would damn someone for eternity for an honest held belief(or unbelief). If i made it to heaven somehow the first thing I would do is find out if hell existed and if it did then I would demand god to let those people free. There is no way I could praise such a monster who created a hell foreknowing that the majority of souls he created would end up there.
This is just one of many reasons I don't believe.. There is a contradiction (big one) between an all loving god and one who created a hell foreknowing which people would end up there(or the Bible lies and he is not all knowing).
I also don't believe for sheer lack of evidence of anything supernatural. There are maybe a thousand more reasons...these are just a couple.

For the most part, I do believe in God. Sometimes, every now and then, I'll get to wondering if things like God really do exist, or if it's all just one big fantasy story fashioned to give us something to help us through hard times. But I have faith in His existence, if not just to give myself some hope.
But I think God is far different from how He is portrayed. People claim God is infinitely perfect, and yet if He were perfect, He would not allow souls to be condemned to Hell. If God were infinitely perfect, then He would be not all-knowing or all-powerful but kind. Kindness and virtue are far more powerful than anything else you could think of. And if God were infinitely perfect, He would love and care for all things so much that He would never send anyone to Hell. As the saying goes, "Hate the sin. Not the sinner." So, I suppose... I believe in Heaven, but not in Hell.
... Although, I must admit that my friends and I joke about going to Hell and throwing a party there. Perhaps it's a bit of a sick joke, but I've been told numerous times that I will suffer in Hell for all eternity. Making some stupid joke out of it at least makes it sound better, no?

I believe in everything. God is everything. Therefore, I believe in God. Simply because I don't believe in something doesn't make it impossible. There's no way to prove a negative, except to convince yourself and then you'll just stop looking for the positive.
Furthermore, I try to go beyond belief into experience. Words and beliefs are fine to point us in a certain direction. What we do along the way and that we keep moving is what really matters. There's always something new around the next corner.
I'm still wondering about the one God thing. God could have a God who could have a God and that could go on forever. Kind of mind blowing. =8-/

I believe in God because I am alive and thinking right before the end of our age. It would be an amazing coincidence if our planet took billions of years to evolve to the state it is in now and I got to see it happen. Also, there are far too many languages for us to have just barely crawled out of the stone age like scientists say we did. We are far older than we know.

No. I am an atheist and I have no reason to believe in a deity. Religion creates too much ignorance and intolerance.
Also to the person that said we "evolved from monkeys": This is not true. Humans evolved from a common ancestor that modern apes also shared. Monkeys evolved in a different direction from this same common link. Your post is an example of religion creating ignorance. Dump your faith and be intelligent.

Yes I do believe. The evidence is insurmountable. If you were able to go to another planet that was suppose to be uninhabited, yet you found a bicycle laying on the ground, you would conclude that some intelligent being must be there, somewhere. Someone had to put the bicycle together. It didn't just come to be. In the same way, someone intelligent had to make this universe, which is much more complex than any bicycle.

I look at the world around me and I have no problem in believing in God. The search for God is a journey and not a destination. The journey brings it's own rewards.

Yes there is one God with many names Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Rama, Vishnu, etc. He is unlimited and has unlimited names and forms. The Christians only have a small piece of the picture. Christ said "their is more I have to tell you." If you want to know what that more is, read the Vedas. By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. Your God is my God.
